Student Support Coordinator

Manchester, CT

The School/Student Support Manager plays a crucial role in creating an inclusive and equitable learning environment at the CCGC School by overseeing all operations relative to safety and support. This full-time, exempt position reports to the Education Director and is responsible for supervising Transportation Teaching Assistants. The School Support Manager should have a deep understanding of DEI principles and practices and should be able to effectively communicate with co-workers, students, and families from diverse backgrounds. They should possess exceptional interpersonal skills and be committed to promoting a culture of respect, inclusivity, and belonging.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for assisting, supporting, mentoring, and supervising any crisis intervention situation at the school.
  • Provide formal supervision to all Transportation Teaching Assistants.
  • Schedule routine team meetings.
  • Provides appropriate oversight for the coordination of drop-off and pick-up times.
  • Assists with the supervision of students during emergency drills, breaks, assemblies, community activities, field trips, play periods, and teacher conferences.
  • Assists teachers in implementing behavior programs; data collection; monitors student's behavior; monitors the classroom in the absence of the teacher and provides coverage as needed.
  • Review and approve hours for Transportation Teaching Assistants.
  • Participates in development opportunities.
  • Responsible for the assignment and maintenance of school radios and headsets.
  • Collaborates with teachers in the preparation of Teaching Assistant evaluations.
  • Responsible for the collection and safekeeping of student cell phones.
  • Input data to the State Department of Education (SDE) data collection website for student restraints and seclusions
  • Provides CPI training as required.
  • Receives school employee callouts and notifications for being tardy through agency-provided cell phone.  Informs appropriate teacher and discusses plan to provide support for the absence.
  • Review van safety inspections and travel logs and request required materials from the Facility Manager.
  • Coordinate yearly van inspections with the Facility Manager.
  • Coordinate scheduling driving courses, physical exams, and fingerprinting for all eligible drivers with Admin Facility Manager.
  • Review driving reports generated by Samsara and address any concerns.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned by supervisor.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Certification/Licensure: Crisis Prevention & Intervention Trainer.
  • The minimum experience is between 3-5 years in the supervision of direct care staff.
  • The position requires moderate physical activity, such as sitting, traveling, walking, driving, and computer usage.
  • The position requires working independently, organizing tasks, problem-solving, making decisions, and handling multiple priorities.
  • Desire to work with a diverse population of students, families, and providers.
  • Cultural sensitivity and understanding of youth and family issues.
  • Have a valid Connecticut Driver’s License
  • Able to obtain V endorsement to transport school children.
