Job Description: 

JOB TITLE:  Special Education Teacher - Coteach grades K-3 

DEPARTMENT:  Education

SUPERVISED BY:  Director of Education/Principal 

JOB SUMMARYThe Special Education Teacher will coteach with a veteran teacher serving acaseload of up to 14 students with the assistance of teaching assistants,clinical social workers, speech pathologist, occupational therapist, certifiedspecial education teachers and educational director.  We are a smalltherapeutic school (up to 48 students) located in Manchester CT.  Theschool is part of the CCGC that has been connecting with families since1959.  

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Establishes meaningful connections with students as they work towards returning to their public-school settings
• Designs educational programs for students based on assessments and presents their findings at Team meetings and PPTs
• Maintains communication with certified special education teachers, school social workers, speech and language pathologist, teaching assistants, occupational therapist serving the students
• Participates in ongoing professional development including the ARC framework and CPI
• Orders classroom supplies and teaching materials

QUALIFICATIONSB.A. required, M.A. preferred 

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATIONThe Special Education Teacher shall be certified by the Connecticut StateDepartment of Education holding a Special Education Certificate 165 orequivalent.
